Local pupils receive Christmas lunch support, and food charity obtains vital monetary boost from toob

Full-fibre broadband provider toob have rolled up their sleeves, in an effort to support the community this Christmastime. Brand Ambassadors volunteered with local food charity City Catering Southampton who serve meals to Southampton’s youngest and oldest residents, in a bid to make a tangible, nutritional difference to people’s lives, regardless of their financial situation.

toob spent time with the charity, understanding their initiatives and how to help with the programme #FoodForGood where this year, in addition to 8,500 daily term-time school meals, they provided 82,790 free meals to families, including 13,126 meals served as part of their holiday support programme, Lunch Crowd.

The toob team set off last Thursday to Oakwood School to help pack up everything needed to serve local school pupils a hot Christmas dinner. They then began the journey around the city, delivering to 22 other schools across Southampton.

Deputy CEO of City Catering, Martin Orman said:

“We are so grateful for toob’s practical help to ensure as many children as possible can enjoy a Christmas meal at school – it’s always our most popular lunch and a really joyful time for school communities. Our teams love to create magical moments at lunchtimes – thank you for toob for helping to make it possible!”

The charity also received a £1,000 charitable donation from toob, in an effort to support them in further assisting in the community.

Of the donation, Martin responded:

“We are thrilled to have toob’s support through yet another donation this winter – helping us to continue to support the local community through these ever-changing environments.”
