toob was incorporated November 2017, with a vision to build an affordable, high-speed full-fibre network across the South of England. Build began in our flagship city of Southampton, with a £50 million investment into revolutionising the city’s infrastructure and internet experience.

Southampton’s homes, businesses, public services and community groups could begin to experience life-changing and affordable full-fibre connectivity, regardless of income, technical knowledge or age.

By 2019, our first customer was ready to be connected…

Ed

Graphic Designer Ed, was toob‘s first ever connected customer:

Community

The build and customer base grew as we threw ourselves into the community, partnering and sponsoring initiatives throughout the city. We volunteered with City Catering delivering food to vulnerable adults and school children, raising over £5,000 during lockdown. Jessica Clasby-Monk, Charitable Impact Manager at City Catering said: “We were delighted to have the support of toob and their customers… this donation will have a huge impact on our ability to continue to adapt to the ever-changing needs of the communities that we serve.”

We sponsored Southampton Firefighters on their Atlantic rowing challenge, which we continue to support as they enter in the 2022 race. Learn more about Firefighters Adam and Stu’s story here.

We also became Premier Partners to the UK City of Culture’s bid 2025, supporting business engagement and belief in the city’s culture, community and creativity. UK City of Culture Bid Director Claire Whitaker OBE said: “toob have launched a fantastic initiative to support vulnerable families and individuals in our community. We are delighted to have them on board as our first Premier partner, their support for our local community is something that we are proud to share and be part of”.

Future

As we continue to keep Southampton connected, we’re thrilled to bring our service to neighbouring towns Eastleigh and Chandler’s Ford. Our Surrey build is also underway and soon we’ll be connecting our first Camberley customer to our network.

Our future looks bright, with plans ahead to bring our full-fibre network to Aldershot, Ash, Farnborough, Frimley, Frimley Green, Guildford, Mytchett, West Byfleet Woking and more! We’ll ensure that we continue our community support to the towns we arrive in, bringing locals together not only through hyperspeed broadband, but through charitable and supportive initiatives too.
