Aldershot are set to become one of the best-connected towns in the country thanks to Hampshire based broadband provider toob. Soon residents will be able to enjoy fast and reliable full-fibre broadband as toob commences the next stage in the deployment of its brand-new broadband network across the South of England.
Following a highly successful roll-out in Southampton and works starting in Camberley and Frimley, Aldershot is the fourth location where work has started in toob’s bold plan to open its network to more than a million premises. Residents in Aldershot should register their interest here to keep up to date with progress and be first to know when toob’s full-fibre broadband is available to order for their home.
To build the brand-new, full-fibre network which will deliver hyperspeed broadband to Aldershot, toob will be investing £9 million in local infrastructure, whilst working closely with Rushmoor Borough Council to maximise the benefits of the rollout to the local community and are also working on extending this to other parts of the borough. Build activity has started, with the first customers expected to be connected by the end of the year.
Councillor David Clifford, Leader of Rushmoor Borough Council said: “We welcome this investment in Aldershot, and I am delighted to see that it is starting to be delivered on the ground. This technology will help to support a growing economy and help secure the future prosperity of our borough.”
The company aspire to provide broadband that is accessible to all and by building and owning their entire network they have full control of the price and service they provide to customers. At just £25 per month, with unlimited usage and no line rental charges, toob offers the most competitive consumer full-fibre broadband service in the UK.
Nick Parbutt, toob’s CEO, said: “We have always viewed the deployment of full-fibre networks as an economic and social necessity and the current challenges we are facing only reinforces this belief. With the announcement of our next location, I am delighted that we can bring the benefits of full-fibre broadband to more families, businesses and communities. This is a very exciting time for toob as we continue the expansion outside of Southampton, and we are delighted to be getting started in Aldershot. We know there is a real need for affordable, reliable, hyperspeed internet and we are quickly filling that gap in the market with thousands of happy customers.”
toob began delivering its full-fibre network across Southampton in late 2019 and thousands of residents across the city are now enjoying the speed and reliability full-fibre provides. The future-ready service offers symmetrical speeds of 900 Mbps with download speeds up to 14x faster and upload speeds up to 64x faster than the UK average (source: Ofcom’s UK home broadband performance report, May 2020).
