Nick Parbutt, CEO, toob, and Mike Banwell, CFO, toob, helped raise more than £7k for charity, including local charity, Solent Mind, through extreme challenges.

Hampshire-based broadband company toob recently sponsored local firefighters Stuart Vince and Craig Sadler to successfully row across the Atlantic Ocean and raise more than £16k for the charities Solent Mind and The Fire Fighters Charity in early 2023.

After supporting Stuart and Craig’s challenge, toob CFO, Mike Banwell, was inspired to continue fundraising for Mind and joined eight fellow rugby coaches to honour a dear friend and find a challenge to fundraise for their chosen charity.

The friends named themselves the Petersfield Plodders and signed up for the Jurassic Coast Walk challenge. This 100km extreme trek takes place over 30 hours, walking through the night to complete it within the time frame.

After some intense training, the friends met the challenge and trekked the stunning Dorset Coast, including a 2360m climb. While Mike Banwell was training, Nick Parbutt, toob CEO, decided to meet his own challenge by abseiling the iconic Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth.

On a windier day than he would have liked, Nick Parbutt braved the 100m hair-raising abseil to encourage people to donate to local mental health charity, Solent Mind. The combined total fundraising from the Petersfield Plodders and Nick Parbutt is £7,331 and rising.

Nick Parbutt, CEO, toob, said, ‘The work of Solent Mind is invaluable. Mental ill health can, and does, affect people from all walks of life, and Solent Mind works so hard to support people suffering from mental ill health and the people surrounding them.

I couldn’t be prouder of our work to fundraise for such a worthy cause.’

Mike Banwell, CFO, toob, said, ‘The Jurassic Coast walk was a tough challenge for the Petersfield Plodders, but we pulled together and supported each other through a gruelling 100km trek.

I’m so proud of the whole Plodders team and delighted that we could help support the important work of Mind, an organisation that helps people when they need it most.’
