toob full-fibre broadband’s leaders rolled up their sleeves to help maintain a community garden in Surrey

toob’s senior management team got together for a day of volunteering at The Arch Community Garden in Woking as a part of toob’s ongoing commitment to the local community.

The garden is located next to The Arch Community Centre and is supported by local charity Catalyst Support, which uses the garden for mental health and wellbeing groups and offers a safe place for local people to get outdoors and learn gardening.

The day of volunteering, carried out as part of the broadband provider’s “toob in the community” staff volunteering scheme & Volunteers’ Week, included planting, weeding and general upkeep, alongside building planters out of recycled materials for the centre.

The Hampshire-based provider launched its “toob in the community” scheme earlier this year to provide employees the opportunity to make a difference with charities that matter most to them. toob has partnered with the OnHand app to provide a variety of opportunities and actions that can be completed across its locations, with employees given paid time off to complete volunteering activities.

Nick Parbutt, toob CEO and Founder said: “The toob management team and I had a wonderful day volunteering at the Arch Community Garden in Woking.

“toob is part of the local community and it’s important to us that we support initiatives and charities that really make a difference to the communities we serve. I’m really pleased we were able to help Catalyst Support with their community garden and we’re looking forward to supporting more local charities in the future.”

Mark Burton, Volunteer Development Manager at Catalyst Support said: “We are so grateful to the team at toob for partnering with us and volunteering at the Arch Community Garden. The garden is a vital resource for the residents of Woking and helps to support the outreach and services we provide to the local community.”

toob has a history of community support and feels strongly about continuing this work. Over the years, the full-fibre provider has supported many charitable organisations through fundraising, events and sponsorships. toob has also installed its full-fibre broadband at vital hubs including the Community Grub Hub in Aldershot, and scout groups and youth centres across its locations.

toob employees have taken part in the Great South Run and an open water swim in the Solent, with CEO Nick Parbutt and CFO Mike Banwell also taking on their own extreme challenges by abseiling the iconic Spinnaker Tower and completing a 100km extreme trek in 30 hours, all in the name of charity fundraising.
