what is toob essentials? 

toob essentials is our £20 a month social tariff, offering 50 Mbps full-fibre symmetrical speeds with an aim to give more people affordable access to full-fibre broadband.

It is available to both new and existing customers, as long as you are receiving one or more of the listed benefits below.

 We will check if you are in receipt of any of the listed benefits using your first name, last name, date of birth and postcode

Currently, you can only place an order by calling us on 023 9300 9300.  

 We will be confirming your eligibility with the Department for Work and Pensions and checking this on a yearly basis once you’re a toob essentials customer.

frequently asked questions

A social tariff is a broadband contract at a discounted price, available for those on qualifying benefits. You will not be charged Early Termination Fees for switching to or cancelling a social tariff with us. Additional charges and fees from other providers may apply.

To get toob essentials you must be receiving one of these benefits:

✅ Universal Credit
✅ Pension Credit
✅ Jobseeker’s Allowance
✅ Employment and Support Allowance
✅ Income Support 

You’ll need to provide some personal information when you order so we can check with the Department for Work and Pensions. We’ll process this information in accordance with toob’s privacy policy, see toob.co.uk/legal.

toob essentials is also only available in the areas highlighted on the map above.  Specifically, these areas are: Southampton, Eastleigh, Chandler’s Ford, Fareham, Gosport, Lee-on-the-Solent, Aldershot, Ash Vale, Fleet, Farnborough, Camberley, Frimley, Blackwater, Yateley, and Woking.

We’ll need your first name, last name, date of birth and postcode, along with your consent to check with the Department for Work and Pensions that you are receiving one of the listed benefits.

The name and address used for the  check will need to be the same as those used to place your toob essentials order, whether you’re applying as a new or existing customer. We will run a check with the Department for Work and Pensions every 12 months with these details. We will let you know the result of the check by email.  

No, we don’t run credit checks for you to join any of our contracts.

Yes, you can leave toob essentials at any time, whether you are cancelling or moving to another of our contracts.

If you wish to cancel your service, then you can do so by giving us a call on 023 9300 9300. Please give us notice at least 7 days before your next bill date. Your service will end at the end of your current billing period. 

When you’ve cancelled your service, we ask that you leave your equipment connected and in position on the wall.

You can continue on toob essentials after the eligibility check as long as you are receiving at least one of the listed benefits. If not, you can choose from one of our other home broadband contracts or leave at any time with no Early Termination Fees by giving us notice at least 7 days before your next bill date.

We will contact you with your options by email and you’ll have time to decide. If no action is taken, you’ll be moved to our 1 month rolling home broadband contract at 900 Mbps. For the latest prices, please see our changes and fees document at www.toob.co.uk/legal.

If your circumstances change and you are not receiving one of the listed benefits when we re-check with the Department for Work and Pensions, then we’ll let you know your available options. If we are unable to contact you or you take no action, you will move to our 1 month rolling home broadband contract, but we’ll give you 30 days’ notice of this. You can cancel this contract at any time without Early Termination Fees. Please see our full toob essentials terms and conditions for more details at www.toob.co.uk/legal. 

 

If you’re already a customer and you are receiving one of the listed benefits, you can move to toob essentials home broadband by giving us notice at least 7 days before your next bill date to switch your contract. You won’t be charged an Early Termination Fee.

We will handle your switch to ensure a smooth transition so you should not experience a drop in service.

toob essentials is only available for those receiving one of the listed benefits, but our 18 month home broadband contract is still great value at only £29 a month.

Our ‘refer a friend’ scheme is not available to toob essentials customers.
