Ten dedicated employees of Hampshire-based full-fibre broadband provider and AltNet, toob, completed the Great South Run as part of their company fundraising which has raised almost £8k for mental health charities this year.

The toob Great South Run team achieved £380 and still rising for the charity Solent Mind, bringing the latest toob charity total to almost £8k across 2023.

toob has been actively fundraising this year, with CEO, Nick Parbutt, abseiling the iconic Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth in May and CFO, Mike Banwell, taking part in the Jurassic Coast Challenge, also in May, which saw Banwell trekking 100km in just 30 hours, alongside his team-mates, the Petersfield Plodders.

toob was inspired to continue its fundraising efforts on behalf of mental health charities after sponsoring local firefighters Stuart Vince and Craig Sadler in their successful row across the Atlantic Ocean. Together Vince and Sadler raised more than £16k for Solent Mind and The Fire Fighters Charity in early 2023.

The toob Great South Run team all completed the course with the fastest toob runner, Field Sales Manager, Taylor Ward, achieving a time of 1 hour, 20 minutes and 3 seconds.

Nick Parbutt, CEO, toob, said, ‘As a local business, toob wants to support the communities where it operates and we’re keen to encourage donations to local mental health charity, Solent Mind.

The work of Solent Mind is invaluable. Mental health affects people from all walks of life. Solent Mind supports people suffering from ill mental health and those surrounding them. I couldn’t be prouder of our work to fundraise for such a worthy cause.’
